Beyoncé put on quite a show at the VMA after-party Sunday night at the Dream Downtown — screaming her head off when Diddy started a fight that broke out right next to her.

“Diddy got in a fight with someone partying too close to him and his girlfriend” Cassie, one guest tells Confidenti@l. “It was mayhem. Beyoncé was yelling to stop and Jay Z was separating people and getting people away from Bey.”

Our spy adds that the ruckus escalated, then subsided after about 90 seconds of shoving and bottle-breaking at around 1:30 a.m.

“We were all dancing and the fight breaks out, and it happened so quickly and bottles were crashing everywhere, and everyone was screaming. People got pushed into bottles,” another guest tells us. “Then Diddy got up, took the mic and said ‘It’s all cool! Ya’ll keep having fun! It’s no big deal, it’s over.’”

Witnessing the brawl were Jamie Foxx, Pharrell, Will.i.am, Russell Simmons and Busta Rhymes, who wisely came with a hulking bodyguard.

Wonder what Camel-man would have done if Bey had been injured during the “Born Sinner Beatdown”? Diddy might have gotten the Lance “Un” Rivera treatment…

Julius would have been lookin’ for a new gig.

Diddy And J.Cole Fight Allegedly Starts Over Kendrick Lamar’s “Control” Verse

On Sunday night, the Ciroc Amaretto Launch Party/VMA afterparty was held at the Ph-D at Dream Downtown in New York City. Yesterday, Twitter buzzed with rumors that Diddy and J. Cole were both involved in an incident at the Ph-D afterparty. Today, we hear more about what possibly sparked their post-VMA “fight.”

Multiple sources familiar with the situation told Complex it went down like this:

1. Diddy was visibly intoxicated.
2. He tried to confront Kendrick over the “King of New York” claim in his “Control” freestyle.
3. Diddy allegedly attempted to pour a drink on Kendrick, and J. Cole intervened.
4. The two started arguing and Cole allegedly put his hands on Diddy, which then led to problems between their respective crews.
5. After a brief scuffle, both crews separated.

J.Cole’s manager Ibrahim posted these tweets to refute the many rumors that are circulating about what exactly happened during the alleged incident

Well sir, perhaps a little transparency would help squash the rumors and bring some closure to the situation. The longer you play the denial game, the longer people get to speculate about what happened.

Add 50 Cent to the list of folks to join the “he said, she said” speculation over what really caused that post-VMA scuffle between Diddy and J. Cole. Curtis took to his Instagram with this post:

Our Bossip sources actually confirmed for us that Diddy did become violent after believing he heard Cole say “Shut the F Up,” but what Cole actually said is rumored to have been “Back the F Up.” Not much better right.

Well the fade has been caught at this point. Does it even matter? Does 50 deserve a side-eye for putting Diddy and Cole on front street?

J.Cole Dedicates “Crooked Smile” Video To Aiyana Stanley-Jones

Talented Roc Nation rapper J.Cole is giving viewers much to think about with the video for his single “Crooked Smile,” off of his latest album “Born Sinner,” which was released earlier this year.

In the video for the already socially-conscious song which features TLC and encourages self-love in spite of physical flaws, J.Cole plays a part in re-enacting the tragically disturbing story of 7-year-old Aiyana-Stanley Jones who was fatally shot in the head by a police officer during a raid at her home in 2010.

What a terribly sad and heartbreaking story to watch and revisit. Kudos to J.Cole for bringing more awareness to this incident and overall issue.

Has J. Cole really put a ring on it?

J.Cole Engaged To Melissa Heholt

Via MTV reports:

The Roc Nation rapper has addressed his longtime relationship with college sweetheart Melissa Heholt in previous interviews, never revealing too many personal details, but this week reports are claiming that Cole might’ve made it official with his girl.

This week several outlets, continue to report that the North Carolina rapper popped the question to Heholt, who he began dating as a sophomore at St. John’s University in Queens. The official Twitter account of Cole’s alma mater, retweeted a message which read, “Congrats to @JColeNC on his engagement to his @StJohnsU college sweetheart #SJU #ColeWorld.”

The rapper himself has not confirmed the news, but MTV News has reached out to his reps for comment.

If the news is indeed true, J. Cole will be the latest in a slew of young rappers who have decided to lock down their leading ladies. Wiz Khalifa announced his engagement to Amber Rose in March 2012 and the two have since tied the knot, while Big Sean recently proposed to his girlfriend, “Glee” star Naya Rivera after going public with their relationship back in the spring.

J.Cole Says Nas Was Like A Father Figure For Him Growing Up

Over the weekend, veteran hip hop lyricist Nas was honored with VIBE Magazine’s #VibeImpact Award and none other than his biggest fan J.Cole got to present his self-professed “idol” with the award.

Cole, who is well documented in letting the world know that Nas was his ultimate rap role model while making his moves into the music industry, gave a heartfelt speech before a crowd of supporters to introduce the man of the hour.   Check out a few excerpts from his speech below:

On Nas being the poster child for hip hop lyricists:
Who’s your favorite rapper says a lot about you. The rapper you name tells me right away what you prioritize, do you prefer the flashy rap, fantasy lifestyle music, trap music, gangster sh*t, back pack; because hip-hop is broad. I believe that when the genre’s at it’s best, when hip hop is flourishing the most, there’s something out there for everybody.

To each it’s own but, me, once I fell in love with the art form of rhyming it was clear to see what I was drawn to. It was introspection, story-telling, emotion, and lyricism; those were the things I could see I was falling in love with as a fan and somebody that wanted to do this. During my early romance with hip hop, there was one rapper who was and still is the poster child for all those qualities I just named and that’s Nasir Jones.

On Jay Z and Nas beefing back in the day:
When that whole rap battle happened, you know you had a side if you were a rap fan and I used to ride for my man. We used to get in bus arguments and damn near fighting. I’m from a younger generation, I was in middle school. That’s how I used to ride for you [Nas] after I heard that song.

On Nas being a father figure for him:
Beyond pushing me and probably a million other kids out there that wanted to be rappers and artists. Even those people that just wanted to be inspired in life. He hit us with life lessons and insight on how to maneuver through this world as young black men in America.

I didn’t grow up with my father, even my stepfather, I told y’all about him he wasn’t a real father figure, just like mom’s boyfriend that was around. I looked to rappers for insight and him and Pac was giving me the most insight on what it’s like to be young and black in this world and what to watch out for.

Nas is the illest!

VIBE Media hosted their second annual Impact Awards last Friday sponsored by Malibu Red. This annual event was created to honor entertainers whose accomplishments have changed pop culture and VIBE carefully chose Nas, in recognition of his influence on hip hop culture over the past two decades. The event began with an intimate ceremony with Nas’s closest friends, industry veterans and celebrity attendees. While guests dined on sushi and sipped Malibu Red, VIBE Editor in Chief, Jermaine Hall, Faith Newman (the woman who first signed him), No I.D., Swizz Beatz, and J.Cole all took the stage to speak a few words to honor the legendary emcee.

A tribute video dedicated to Nas was filled with celebrity friends and fans including Snoop Dogg, 2 Chainz, Rick Ross, Miguel, Steve Stoute, Rakim and more. Finally, Swizz Beatz hit the stage and spoke from his heart as he presented the VIBE Impact Award to the hip hop icon. Nas, looking dapper in a lime green Tom Ford jacket, took the stage to accept the award where he thanked everyone who ever had a hand in his success. He even surprised his manager Anthony Saleh, as well as his former manager, Steve Stoute, by asking them to come on stage and say a few words. Saleh and Stoute went up separately and gave off the cuff speeches that were both filled with love and admiration for Nas. Other celebrities in attendance included Keyshia Cole, Chrissette Michelle and Busta Rhymes.

D-Nice spun the upbeat after party for celebrity attendees that included Nene Leakes, Draya, Emily B, Lil Mo, Gloria Govan, Elle Varner, A$AP Ferg and more.

J. Cole celebrated his 29th birthday after his New York City concert with fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar. Apparently this was a “no girls allowed” celebration.

Kendrick Lamar took part of a “boys only’’ birthday celebration for fellow rapper J. Cole at Gilded Lily in Chelsea Wednesday night.
Spies tell us the hip-hop artists hung out in the back of the bar, ignoring all of the women around them.

“Security was stopping people from going over to them — especially girls,” we’re told. “They kept to themselves and didn’t pay any attention to the girls that were trying to get to them.” Lamar later got on the microphone and wished Cole a happy birthday.

Janet Jackson And Wissam Al Mana’s Divorce Over Parenting Dispute

After a couple of months of “leaving it in God’s hands”, Janet Jackson and Wissam Al Mana have finally gotten their divorce proceedings started according to E!Online.

The estranged couple appeared in a Royal Courts of Justice in London on Thursday morning to meet with Justice Anna Pauffley. Eyewitnesses say that Janet left the courthouse with her team and they looked upbeat and “in great spirits”. Meanwhile, Wissam and his team left the building looking “somber”.

Wonder if that mood is related to the rumored $500 million that Jackson is looking to remove from Wissam’s pockets. Losing that kind of gwap will definitely sour the mood to say the least.

A source has told E! that Janet has been very stressed out since the split and that differences in how to raise their son Eissa Al Mana was the main reason for the divorce.

We’re not sure if Wissam is a devout follower of any particular religion, but it’s definitely fair to wonder if that played a part in the dispute over how to parent their son.
